The chorus began in 1988 as a sing-along activity offered at the Wayland Senior Center. Over time, under the direction of its dynamic founder, Madeleine Sifantus, it evolved into a vibrant performing chorus of men and women from all over the MetroWest Boston area. Reverend Sifantus retired from her position as Director in August 2008, and now serves as pastor of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula, CA.
Director Deborah Lee Marion joined the Golden Tones as part-time Assistant Director in 2005 and became full-time Acting Director in 2008, Director in 2009 and Executive Director in 2019. The chorus continues to flourish under her leadership.
